Dye Tracks Committee meeting held October 1, 2003 2:30 p.m.
Marriott Hotel, Orlando
ShowEast

1. Ioan Allen, reported that US red light penetration is at minimum 60% and could be as high as 85%, although confirmation from individual theatres is sometimes difficult to obtain.

2. The wide release of DreanWorks Pictures "Anything Else" on September 19th marked the first 100% cyan dye analogue soundtracks. Ioan Allen noted that the film's release was flawless as far as the dye track was concerned. No complaints or problems in playback were noted in any theatre; the successful release proved that the technology works very well and could be implemented on other film soundtracks. Ioan congratulated DreamWorks and Technicolor, and thanked Ted Costas of Dolby for his point work on this project.

3. Growth of international red light penetration continues in Australia and Europe; see www.dyetracks.org for details. Japan has now also now formed a dye track committee.

4. The website (www.dyetracks.org) has been updated with two new items about the "Anything Else" pre-release.
