16 mm cyan dye tracks not recommended

The success of the conversion to cyan analog tracks for 35 mm films was predicated on the simultaneous equipping of projectors with visible red light LED or laser readers. Playback of a cyan dye track on a conventional tungsten/incandescent white light reader is considered very unsatisfactory. As there is no program for conversion of 16 mm projectors to red light, and no manufacturers making conversion kits, release of 16 mm dye tracks cannot be recommended at this time. The only exception to this guidance would be in a controlled situation with a specially modified projector, and where there would be no danger of the print being played on an unmodified projector.
